As an ECE Teacher I Created Roll and Color for Preschool through 2nd Grade Skill Building
As an early childhood educator, I found that students were losing their subitizing skills after Kindergarten and created a series of Roll and Color Games for students from preschool through 2nd grade.
During homework help, I noticed a first-grade student counting the number ten individually. He was not my preschool student. However, in kindergarten, he picked up subitizing easily.
To create these games, I started by choosing themes I already used in my preschool curriculum. The preschool curriculum that I found seemed to be missing the math portion. Most of the preschool emphasized literacy and writing.
I wanted to teach the kids the importance of math concepts and critical thinking, not just the memorization of counting and numbers. So, the Roll and Color games were born with themes ranging from apples to a ninja pig. This way I could have an instant math concept component to add to my literacy unit.
Roll and Color Games are an effective and fun way for children to learn essential skills. These games not only help build foundational skills but also encourage social interaction and cooperation. I highly recommend trying the Ladybug Roll and Coloriffic into your lesson and then observing the skill-building results.

What is Subitizing?
Subitizing is a fundamental concept that refers to the ability to recognize a small group of objects without having to count them. For example, you can look at three dots on a die and know immediately that it's three, without having to count each dot.
The Lady Bug Roll and Coloriffic Games focus on subitizing and helps children learn how to identify the amount of objects in a group without counting.
